Sleep? What Sleep?

Many of you know that I've become the girl that never sleeps! I can't get to sleep, and when I do I sometimes wake up at 2am... then I'm up for the day. It was really starting to wear on me and it also drags my immune system down and I keep getting sick. So, I decided to go to my doctor and beg for pills. I thought that I would share this with everyone because what I learned is very interesting. And, I'm sure that I'm not the only one out of my friends that it experiencing this.

My doctor said that my serotonin levels are low (odd to me because I'm always so upbeat and happy) and my brain needs to produce more serotonin. She would not prescribe the typical sleeping pill because she said that it is a serotonin level with me. This would just mask a real cure and I would get addicted to sleeping pills. So, she prescribed a prescription vitamin that has the highest levels. And, I am to take tryptophan and B100 every day as well. She gave me a non-habit forming sleeping pill to take in a few weeks if I don’t notice a difference. I took the tryptophan last night and I slept through the entire night. She said that what I’m experiencing is very common with pregnancy. This started during my pregnancy. I thought that it was just because I was uncomfortable. Then, it continued after Morgan was born. I thought that it was because I was waking up all the time with a baby. My mom said that she went through the same thing after my sister was born and took tryptophan as well. I’m so relieved to know that there is a reason for this and that it is fixable. I never sleep and I’m just so tired. I’m also glad that my doctor won’t prescribe something to just take care of the problem “for now”. I’m interested in fixing this long term. She said that it would take about 2-4 weeks to build up my serotonin levels and that I will also have more energy. Woo hoo! I’ll take that any day!

So, if you can't sleep... you may want to try what my doctor has suggested. The tryptophan and B100 are over the counter things.

Standing Tall - Morgan Stands Without Help

Wyatt had his first birthday party. It was a hit! Christi and Scott had all of us moms, dads and babies over to the house.

Last week Laura and I hung out. I bought a bike carrier for Morgan. Laura installed it for me. Love you Laura! That sucker took forever to install on my bike. We are getting a group of girls and babies together this Friday to go riding. We will for sure need to start out on a flat surface. I'm way out of practice.

Today he stood up for about 5-10 seconds all on his own! He did it in front of Grandmommie, Becky and Christi!

Christi had a fabulous idea that we start taking the babies to a nursing home to visit the people who don't often get visitors. My Grandmommie is in the nursing section of a retirement home. So, we took the babies to visit Grandmommie first. She had her hearing aides in and was having a really good day. My Grandmommie has dementia and will often not realize who I am or the fact that I was there last week. She really had her game on today! And, she looked fabulous. Dan, the physical therapist, was in her room when we arrived. He was working on fixing her leg when she in her wheelchair. We also met a lady named Elizabeth and a lady named Marylynn took us to her room to show the babies her stuffed animals. We plan to go back sometime right before lunch and visit with all of the residents right before they go to lunch. Everyone kept stopping us in the hallways to talk to the babies. It was a huge hit. Great suggestion Christi!

Ohmygosh! Ok, now I know that silent children are up to something! Morgan is right at my feet and he was all of a sudden quiet. I looked down and he was eating a USED Kleenex. Gross! So, I just dug it all out of his mouth. That little stinker!

Oh, and my exercise ball is now getting a ton of use. No, not from me. Morgan loves to chase it around the living room.

The playroom transformation is beginning tonight. I'm so excited! We are moving out all of the office furniture and hauling it up to the ranch this week. I drew up plans for the built ins. John and Dan are going to build them this weekend!

My sister came into town last week for our friend Ashley's wedding. Congratulations again Ashley! She brought Darby and Bret with her. Mary is holding Wyatt and Christi is holding Bret in this picture. Darby is wearing a dress that I wore as a little girl for a portrait. I actually kept pinching Mary during this portrait. I have to search for those pictures and post them. You can see me laughing and pinching her in the picture. Ha

Wow! Mr. Man Can Pull Himself UP!

Well, our little man has been cruising for a while now. For those non-baby people... that means that he's not walking. But, he can hold on to furniture and walk with the assistance of furniture of people.

Dan walked into his room today and found that he was standing in his bed So, Mr. Morgan can now pull himself up! Dan is taking the mobile out of the bed as I type so that Morgan doesn't choke to death on it. It's a good thing that we lowered the bed all the way last month.
